
Front-wheel drive cars experience understeer, which refers to a loss of control during steering, also known as understeer. Front-wheel drive cars often exhibit understeer when pushed to their limits in corners. This occurs because the engine and drive shaft center of a front-wheel drive car are located at the front of the vehicle, with the drive wheels being the two front wheels. During cornering, the front center of gravity tends to move forward due to inertia, easily exceeding the traction limit of the front tires, resulting in understeer. Factors contributing to understeer include: 1. Unbalanced vehicle mass distribution; 2. Excessive stiffness or softness of the front suspension; 3. The front roll center being too high relative to the rear roll center; 4. Excessive rear track width; 5. Excessive width of the rear tires.
