Vehicles require annual inspections after six years. New traffic regulations stipulate that new vehicles are exempt from inspections for the first six years, with seven-seater or larger vehicles excluded from this exemption. The exemption means no on-site inspection is required, but a certification must be obtained every two years. After 6-15 years, an annual inspection is required, and for vehicles over 15 years old, inspections are required every six months. Relevant provisions from the Road Traffic Safety Law Implementation Regulations are as follows: Operational passenger vehicles must be inspected annually within the first 5 years; after 5 years, every 6 months. Trucks and large or medium-sized non-operational passenger vehicles must be inspected annually within the first 10 years; after 10 years, every 6 months. Small and non-operational passenger vehicles must be inspected every 2 years within the first 6 years; after 6 years, annually; after 15 years, every 6 months. Motorcycles must be inspected every 2 years within the first 4 years; after 4 years, annually. Tractors and other motor vehicles must be inspected annually. If an operational motor vehicle passes the safety technical inspection within the specified inspection period, it does not need to undergo another safety technical inspection. Vehicles exceeding the scrapping age cannot be transferred (sold or bought), but can continue to be used. For transactions, the owner can first obtain a scrapping certificate from the vehicle management office (to deregister the vehicle's records) and then proceed with the transaction.
