I tried it once to grab a tool I left inside. Big mistake. The whole car rocked when I opened the door, and the ramp made a scary cracking sound. I thought it was going to slide out from under the tire. I ended up squeezing out like a contortionist, scared I'd dent the door. Just don't do it. It’s not worth the panic. Pull the car off the ramps first, or plan better than I did.

It’s all about using the right tool for the job. Think of race ramps like a car lift at a shop—you wouldn't climb into a car while it's on the lift. The ramps get the car in the air; that's their job. Your job is to then use a creeper to slide underneath. If you need to get in the car, the job is done. Lower the car back down. Mixing those steps is asking for a trip to the emergency room.

My buddy who's a mechanic would laugh if he saw someone try that. He drilled into me that the only thing holding the car on those plastic ramps is friction and gravity. You start moving around inside, and you're testing both of those to the limit. He said he's seen cars fall off stands from less. It’s just a dumb, unnecessary risk. Do your work, get out from under the car, and then drive it off the ramps like a normal person. No shortcut is worth that danger.
