Having installed hundreds of these, the middle seat is ideal but tricky. The number one mistake I see is people using the left and right LATCH anchors for the center spot. Unless your car's manual gives the green light for that, it's a no-go. You'll likely need to use the lap-shoulder belt. Make sure you pull the belt all the way out to switch it into locking mode.
