
Once the windshield washer fluid is frozen, it cannot be thawed by the heat of the engine. Last month, my windshield washer reservoir froze solid, and it took idling the engine for 40 minutes to thaw it out. The heat generated by the engine transfers through metal pipes, but the effect is weaker if the reservoir is located on the side of the engine bay. After thawing, remember to immediately spray out all the regular washer fluid and replace it with an antifreeze type.
