Whether it's a scrapped or transferred vehicle, you can apply to retain the original license plate. The following conditions must be met to continue using the original plate: 1. The license plate must have been used for more than 1 year (the previous requirement was 3 years). 2. The application period for retaining the original number has been extended to 1 year (previously, it had to be submitted within 6 months after the vehicle was transferred or scrapped). 3. All traffic violation records associated with the original vehicle must be cleared. Additional information: Required documents for applying to retain an old license plate include: ID card and photocopy; "Motor Vehicle Transfer or Registration Application Form"; compulsory traffic insurance certificate; annual inspection certificate; whole vehicle factory certificate; motor vehicle origin certificate; for imported vehicles, import documentation is required; vehicle purchase tax payment certificate; and all documents submitted during the initial vehicle registration.
