If the sensor gets damaged during cleaning, replacing it could cost hundreds, making it even more of a loss. A wiser approach would be to first check for other abnormalities and repair other components, such as spark plugs, instead.

The oxygen sensor monitors exhaust oxygen to help the computer adjust fuel injection.
