No, a car insurance policy cannot be directly transferred to a new owner in Malaysia. The policy is a legal contract between the insurance company and the original policyholder. When you sell your car, the existing policy becomes void upon the transfer of ownership. The new owner is legally required to obtain their own insurance policy under their name before the vehicle ownership can be officially transferred at the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

The correct procedure involves two key steps. First, as the seller, you should cancel your existing insurance policy. Contact your insurance provider to initiate the cancellation. You will need to provide them with a copy of the vehicle's grant (Geran) showing the new owner's details as proof of sale. Most insurers will provide a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your premium, which can be a nice bonus from the sale.

Second, the buyer must secure a new insurance policy. They must purchase at least the mandatory third-party cover before the ownership transfer can be completed at a JPJ counter. It is illegal to drive a car in Malaysia without at least this basic insurance. The new owner can choose any insurer and select the level of coverage (e.g., third-party, fire and theft, or comprehensive) that suits their needs.

Attempting to simply let the new owner "use" your old policy is risky. In the event of an accident, the claim would likely be rejected because the policyholder (you) no longer has an insurable interest in the vehicle. This could lead to significant financial and legal liabilities for both parties. The official process, while requiring a few extra steps, protects both the seller and the buyer.

Nope, it doesn't work like that. The insurance is tied to you, not the car. When you sell the car, your insurance is basically done for that vehicle. The guy buying your car has to get his own insurance sorted before you both can go to JPJ to put the car in his name. You should call your insurance company to cancel your policy and get some money back for the months you didn't use. It’s a clean break for everyone.

As a seller, my main concern is avoiding any future liability. I learned that my insurance policy is my responsibility. After the sale, I immediately contacted my insurer to cancel the policy and provided them with a copy of the new Geran. This formally ends my connection to the car. If I didn't do this and the new owner got into an accident, my insurance might be involved in a messy claim. Cancelling it is the only safe way to ensure I'm completely off the hook.

It's a common misconception, but the law is clear: insurance follows the person. Think of it as part of the ownership transfer checklist. The seller cancels their policy to finalize their end of the deal and potentially receive a refund. Simultaneously, the buyer must secure a new policy. This isn't just a formality; it's a critical step that JPJ requires to update the vehicle registration system. This process ensures there's a clear, current, and valid insurance holder on record for every car on the road.

I just went through this process. You can't transfer the policy, but you can make it easy. As the seller, I got the refund from my old insurance, which was a nice surprise. For the buyer, it's actually simple now. They can go online and get a new insurance quote and cover note in minutes from various websites. The key is to have that new digital or printed cover note ready before you line up at the JPJ counter. It streamlines the whole transfer.

How to Fix the Gap Between Headlights and Bumper?

To fix the gap between the headlights and the bumper, you need to remove the bumper, reposition it properly, and then reinstall it. This task requires patience and may require repeated adjustments. The car bumper is a safety device designed to absorb and mitigate external impacts, protecting the front and rear parts of the vehicle. In the past, front and rear bumpers were made of steel plates pressed into channel sections, riveted or welded to the frame rails, resulting in a relatively large gap between the bumper and the body. Nowadays, car bumpers are made of plastic and are referred to as plastic bumpers. Typically, a plastic bumper consists of three parts: the outer cover, the cushioning material, and the crossbeam.

What Causes the Red Water Temperature Light to Illuminate in a Sedan?

When the red water temperature light illuminates in a sedan, it indicates that the water temperature is too high. Below is relevant information about the car's water temperature light: 1. Definition: The water temperature indicator is a bimetallic strip sensor switch screwed into the engine block water jacket, which controls the red indicator light (high-temperature warning light) on the instrument panel. 2. Explanation of the Water Temperature Indicator: This indicator displays the temperature of the coolant inside the engine. When the ignition is turned on and the vehicle performs a self-check, the light will illuminate for a few seconds and then turn off. If the water temperature light remains on, it means the coolant temperature has exceeded the specified limit, and driving should be stopped immediately. The light will turn off once the water temperature returns to normal.

What tires does the Verano use?

Buick Verano tires are Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance series tires with the model specification 205/55-R16. The Verano is equipped with all-season tires that provide good overall performance in most road and weather conditions. Here is some relevant information: 1. The original tires are designed to meet the specific tire performance standards of Shanghai General Motors. If the vehicle is frequently driven on snow or ice-covered roads, winter tires should be considered. Although all-season tires can meet performance demands under most winter driving conditions, they may not provide the same level of traction or performance as winter tires on snow or ice. 2. The Verano comes standard with Bosch's latest version of the ESP program, TPMS intelligent tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat interface, rear parking sensors, and six airbags with side curtains. These safety features represent the highest standard in the mid-size car market. 3. In terms of configuration, the Verano comes standard with laminated front windshield glass, which effectively reduces noise intrusion and provides better heat insulation. The multifunctional steering wheel, sunroof, USB port, and anti-haze air filter further enhance practicality.
