You need to separate cruising RPM from acceleration RPM. For cruising, 1500-3000 is fine. But if you’re asking about the RPM to start accelerating from a stop or for an overtake, that’s different. Don’t be afraid of the higher revs. To get moving briskly or pass safely, you should comfortably use 3000 to 4000 RPM. The engine makes more power there. The idea is to get to your desired speed efficiently, then let the RPM drop back to a calm cruising range. Keeping it under 2500 all the time makes a car feel sluggish. Use the power band when you need it.
