Are the Heater Core and Evaporator Core the Same?
1 Answers
Heater core and evaporator core are not the same. Definition of evaporator core: The evaporator core, installed under the dashboard on the passenger side, is one of the components of the automotive air conditioning system. It mainly consists of an evaporator and a heater core. The evaporator is where the refrigerant in the air conditioning system changes from liquid to gas, absorbing heat through evaporation. It utilizes the principle that low-temperature, low-pressure liquid refrigerant absorbs a large amount of heat during evaporation to remove heat from the surrounding air, thereby achieving cooling and delivering cold air into the cabin to lower the temperature inside the vehicle. The low-temperature, low-pressure liquid refrigerant from the throttling device absorbs a significant amount of heat from the surrounding air during evaporation, achieving the goal of cooling the cabin. Definition of heater core: The heater core transfers heat from the coolant generated during engine operation. A blower then delivers this heat into the cabin to produce warm air.
