Nope, that's a mix-up. My hybrid SUV has a battery and an electric motor, but I've never plugged it in. I researched this heavily before buying my car. The term "hybrid" is too broad. The common hybrid is not an electric car; it's an electrified gasoline car. Its small battery is charged by the engine and braking. For a car to be considered electric in the modern sense, it needs a large, rechargeable battery that you plug in, allowing for extended gas-free driving. A plug-in hybrid does this, a standard hybrid does not.
