Preparing your concrete floor correctly is key for a successful DaiHard MAX CLEAR epoxy coating application. Follow these steps for optimal results: First, thoroughly clean the surface. Remove all dust, grease, curing compounds, and any other contaminants. Use a concrete cleaner or a strong TSP solution to get rid of oil, dirt, grease, and other chemical residues. For more stubborn stains, a mix of water and muriatic acid can be used, but always prioritize safety. Next, assess porosity. Pour some water on the concrete. If the water absorbs, the concrete is porous enough. If the water beads up, further preparation is necessary. For dense or treated concrete, mechanical methods like grinding might be required to open the pores for better epoxy penetration. Also, check the moisture content. The concrete should ideally have less than 12% moisture. High moisture levels can impact the epoxy's adhesion and performance. If the concrete has a previous coating, check its condition. Remove any loose or peeling paint. Scuff the surface with sandpaper to improve adhesion. Ensure the surface is clean before applying the new DaiHard MAX CLEAR epoxy coating. Refer to the DaiHard MAX CLEAR user manual for detailed instructions and safety precautions.
