Don't let a slime mishap on your sofa cause a moment of panic. While it looks like a disastrous, sticky mess, you can absolutely defeat it with a surprisingly simple and effective method. The key is using the right technique to break down the slime's composition without harming your fabric.
First, you'll want to remove as much of the excess, goopy slime as possible. Use a spoon or a dull knife to carefully scrape off any solid or semi-solid chunks. The goal here is to lift the slime up and away from the fabric, so be gentle and avoid pressing the goo deeper into the fibers of the sofa.
Now for the hero of this cleaning story: plain white vinegar. The acidity in the vinegar is incredibly effective at dissolving the polymers in the slime, causing it to loosen its grip on the fabric. Pour a small amount of white vinegar directly onto the stain, ensuring it's saturated. Let it sit for about five to ten minutes. You'll notice the slime starting to break apart and become much easier to remove.
After the vinegar has worked its magic, take a soft cloth or a gentle brush and start blotting and dabbing at the stain. You can work in small, circular motions to lift the dissolved slime from the fabric. As the slime transfers to your cloth, switch to a clean section to avoid reapplying it. Once the stain is gone, blot the area with a cloth dampened with cool water and a drop of dish soap to remove any final residue and the vinegar scent. Finally, press a dry towel onto the spot to absorb excess moisture and let it air dry completely.
