To ensure optimal performance of your GE gas furnace, regularly maintain the air filter. As per the GE Gas-Fired Furnaces Instruction Manual, inspect the air filter at least every six weeks. Depending on its condition, clean or replace it as needed. Neglecting the air filter can lead to reduced heating or cooling efficiency and higher energy expenses. If you use a disposable filter, replace it with an identical type and size. For cleanable filters, remove loose debris by shaking or vacuuming. Wash the filter using soap or detergent and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling it. Cleanable filters do not require oiling after washing. Remember, the furnace should always operate with a filter in place unless your system has a central return air filter-grille. For model-specific filter details, consult a qualified service technician.
