To ensure your Mircom MIX-2251APA Intelligent Photoelectric Smoke Sensor is working correctly, follow these testing methods:
Functional Test with a Magnet: Use a test magnet (P/N M02-04-01 or M02-09-00) and hold it in the designated test area on the sensor. The control panel should trigger an alarm.
Smoke Entry Test with Aerosol Generator: Use an aerosol generator, setting it to produce 4% to 5% obscuration, and apply it near the sensor until the panel alarms. Alternatively, approved canned aerosol simulated smoke can be used for this test.
Direct Heat Method (for MIX-2251TAPA and MIX-2251TMAPA only): Use a 1000-1500 watt hair dryer to direct heat towards the thermistors on the sensor, holding it about 12 inches away. Test each thermistor individually and allow the detector to cool before resetting.
Cleaning: Before cleaning, notify the appropriate authorities and disable the zone or system. Remove the sensor cover and carefully vacuum the screen. If necessary, remove the chamber cover/screen assembly and clean the sensing chamber with a vacuum or compressed air. Reassemble the sensor and test it as described above. These steps will help you maintain the effectiveness of your Mircom MIX-2251APA smoke detector.
