Accurate blood pressure readings depend on proper cuff placement. To ensure you're getting the most reliable results, follow these steps: First, wrap the cuff snugly around your upper arm, about 2 to 3 centimeters above your elbow. The cuff should be snug but not overly tight. Next, locate the "Artery Mark" on the cuff. This mark should be positioned directly over the artery on the inside of your arm. Secure the hook and loop closure to keep the cuff in place during measurement. Check the fit; you should be able to comfortably slide two fingers between your arm and the cuff. If you're unsure, measure your arm circumference to confirm the cuff size is appropriate. Finally, when taking a reading, rest your arm on a flat surface with your palm facing up, and make sure the cuff is at the same level as your heart. Ensure the tubing isn't twisted or kinked. By following these guidelines, you can confidently use your blood pressure monitor and obtain accurate readings.
