To ensure safe flights, it's crucial to perform a range test on your E-flite EFL370001 Apprentice RC airplane before each flight. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Transmitter Initialization: Power on your transmitter with the throttle stick at its lowest setting and wait at least 5 seconds.
- Aircraft Power-Up: Have an assistant hold the aircraft. Connect the aircraft's battery to the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) connector and hold the aircraft immobile for 5 seconds.
- Positioning: Face the model, holding the transmitter in your normal flying position.
- Initiating Range Check Mode: Press and hold the bind button (often labeled as button A). Simultaneously, toggle the HI/LO rate switch (usually switch F) up and down twice. The transmitter's RGB LED will flash, and an alarm will sound, confirming range check mode. Do not release the bind button until the range check is complete.
- Distance Test: With the model securely held, walk approximately 30 paces away from the aircraft.
- Control Check: While at the 30-pace distance, operate the transmitter's rudder, elevator, aileron, and throttle controls to verify smooth and responsive function. If any control issues are observed, do not attempt to fly. Consult your Apprentice's Troubleshooting Guide for assistance. If you need further support, contact Horizon Hobby Product Support.
- Exiting Range Check Mode: Upon successful completion of the range test, release the bind button to exit the range check mode.
