Maintaining your VACPAK-IT chamber vacuum packaging machine is crucial for its performance. Changing the oil is a key task. Here's how to change the oil in your machine:
Required Supplies:
Warm Up the Pump Oil: Run the machine for a few cycles to warm the existing oil. This helps it drain more effectively.
Power Down: Turn off the VACPAK-IT machine and unplug the power cable from the electrical outlet for safety.
Access the Pump: Remove the back panel of the unit by unscrewing the four corner screws. This gives you access to the vacuum pump.
Locate the Drain Bolt: Find the oil drain bolt, usually on the bottom of the vacuum pump, which is often underneath the unit's housing. Place your oil drain pan or container directly under this bolt.
Drain the Old Oil: Carefully remove the oil drain bolt. Allow the old oil to drain completely into your oil drain pan. This may take several minutes.
Replace the Drain Bolt: Once the oil has completely drained, securely replace the oil drain bolt on the pump. Ensure it's tightened properly to prevent leaks.
Refill with Fresh Oil: Locate the oil fill bolt on the vacuum pump. Use a wrench or similar tool to remove it. Pour in the new, correct type of machine oil until the oil level is at least halfway up the sight glass, which is approximately 3.5 oz. Refer to your VACPAK-IT machine's manual for specific oil type recommendations.
Secure the Fill Bolt: Replace the oil fill bolt on the vacuum pump to seal it.
Reassemble: Replace the back panel by securing it with the four corner screws.
Dispose of Properly: Dispose of the used machine oil responsibly according to your local and state regulations. Do not pour it down the drain or into the environment.
Operation: Your VACPAK-IT chamber vacuum packaging machine is now ready for use. Regular oil changes help ensure optimal performance and extend the life of your machine, so you can continue to enjoy the benefits of superior food storage and preservation.
