To ensure your Mircom I56-3311 Intelligent Photoelectric Smoke Sensor is functioning correctly, you can perform several tests. Here's how:
Functional Test with Magnet: Use a test magnet (P/N M02-04-01 or M02-09-00) specifically designed for this purpose. Hold the magnet near the designated test area on the sensor. The control panel should register an alarm.
Smoke Entry Test with Aerosol Generator: Employ a GEMINI model 501 aerosol generator. Set it to simulate 4%-5% obscuration. Apply the aerosol using the applicator until the control panel activates the alarm. Alternatively, use approved canned aerosol simulated smoke products as a substitute.
Direct Heat Method (for specific models): This method is applicable for models MIX-2251TAP and MIX-2251TMAP. Use a hair dryer (1000-1500 watts) to test the thermistors. Direct the heat towards the thermistors from a safe distance, taking care not to cause damage. The detector will reset after it has cooled sufficiently.
