Setting up your UM220-IV NV positioning module involves a few key steps to ensure it functions correctly. First, prepare your workspace by using an antistatic workbench or wearing an antistatic wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge, and inspect the module for any physical damage.
Next, connect the GNSS antenna to the module using the appropriate cable. Use a direct serial cable to connect the module to your PC. Power on the evaluation board, and initialize the UM220-IV NV module. Launch the uSTAR application to control the receiver and view positioning data.
For power, the UM220-IV NV module requires a stable power supply between 3.0V and 3.6V. Connect the VCC pin to the main power supply and the V_BCKP pin to the backup voltage supply if you aren't using a hot start.
Connect the RF_IN signal to the GNSS antenna to receive positioning signals. If you are using a +3V active antenna, you can use the VCC_RF pin to power the antenna using a feed inductor.
The module uses UART serial ports for communication; ensure these are properly connected for data transfer and any necessary firmware upgrades. Make sure all GND pins are connected to ground for proper operation. For best results, follow design guidelines for power supply stability, UART interfaces, and antenna positioning. Refer to the UM220-IV NV user manual for detailed information.
