Keeping your Ninja CM401 Specialty 10-Cup Coffee Maker clean and descaled is key to enjoying great-tasting coffee. Here's how to do it:
Cleaning:
- Empty the water reservoir and remove the filter holder.
- If using a paper filter, discard it. For the permanent filter, wash with warm, soapy water or place it in the top rack of the dishwasher.
- Clean the frother whisk after each use by hand or in the top rack of the dishwasher.
- Wash the carafe and brew-through lid with warm, soapy water. Use a bottle brush for the inside of the carafe; avoid wire brushes.
- After the coffee maker cools, wipe the main unit, showerhead, and water reservoir shelf with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the coffee maker in water.
Descaling:
6. Select the Full Carafe size and place the empty carafe under the brew basket.
7. Fill the water reservoir to the Max Fill line (50 oz.) with a coffee maker descaling solution. Follow the solution's instructions.
8. Press the CLEAN button.
9. The clock will count down the 60-minute cleaning cycle. The machine will pause periodically to maximize cleaning.
10. The coffee maker will beep, display "End," and the CLEAN light will turn off when complete.
11. Empty and thoroughly clean the carafe and water reservoir with warm, soapy water to remove any cleaning solution.
12. Fill the reservoir with fresh water to the Max Fill line, place the empty carafe, and run a Full Carafe, Classic brew cycle with water only to flush the system. Discard the water and clean the carafe.
If the CLEAN light comes on again, repeat the descaling steps. The light will turn off when the coffee maker is clean.
