To verify the emergency operation of your IOTA ISD-420-EM-B Series AC Universal Voltage Self Diagnostic Emergency Ballast, follow these steps. First, for initial testing, allow the unit to charge for about an hour, then perform a short discharge test. After that, fully charge the unit for 72 hours before conducting a one-hour test. The ballast also performs automatic tests. It runs a 30-second test approximately every 26 to 28 days. If any problems arise during this test, the Lighted Push Button Test Switch (LPTS) will flash. Consult the manual's table to interpret the number of flashes for diagnosis. Annually, the ballast conducts a 90-minute test. Issues during this annual test are also indicated by the LPTS flashing; refer to the manual for failure code interpretation. You can also manually test the emergency function at any time, provided the unit is fully charged, by pressing and releasing the LPTS. This manual test won't affect the automatic testing schedule and uses the same diagnostic indicators. The on the ballast provides failure codes through flashes: one flash means a charge failure, two flashes indicate a battery failure, three flashes mean a lamp failure, and four flashes signify an inverter failure. If any failure codes occur, qualified personnel should service the unit. Regular testing, as described in the IOTA manual, ensures your emergency ballast is ready for a power outage.
