To replace the cutting line on your Kobalt KST 2224B-03 Brushless String Trimmer, follow these steps: First, press the two release tabs found on the spool base and pull the spool retainer straight out to remove it. Next, take out the spool and clean the inner surfaces of both the spool retainer and the spool base. Now, take roughly 15 feet of 0.08-inch diameter cutting line. Fold this line in half, ensuring one end is slightly longer than the other. Hook the folded end of the cutting line into one of the slots on the spool. Wind the line evenly and tightly onto the spool, making two layers, and follow the direction indicated on the spool itself. Once wound, place the ends of the line into two opposing notches on the spool, allowing approximately 5 inches to protrude. Then, align the notches on the spool with the eyelets in the spool retainer and place the spool back into the retainer. Pull one end of the line to detach it from the notch in the eyelet, and repeat this process for the other end. Finally, align the slots on the spool retainer with the tabs on the spool base and press the retainer down until it clicks securely into place. Properly replacing the cutting line will ensure your Kobalt string trimmer continues to perform effectively.
