Why is Zongshen called Cyclone?

Cyclone is a high-end motorcycle brand under the Zongshen Industrial Group. Characteristics of the Cyclone brand: Building on its existing 250cc displacement models, Cyclone has expanded its product lineup in the large-displacement motorcycle segment to include models above 250cc. With a core philosophy centered on focus and progress, Cyclone positions itself as a fuel-powered motorcycle brand dedicated to large-displacement enthusiasts. The brand advocates the motto "No big displacement, no life" and encompasses five major series: adventure touring, street sports, road racing, cruiser, and retro. The highlights of the launch event were three latest models under the Cyclone brand: the adventure touring series RX1, the first street sports model RZ3, and the first road racing model RC3. The relationship between Zongshen and Cyclone: As a high-end sub-brand under Zongshen, Cyclone's growth primarily relies on its relatively diverse product lineup. However, what helped it quickly establish a foothold in the market was neither the RX series nor the retro series, but the scooter RT3. With its appealing appearance, rich configurations, innovative design, and a reasonably ideal powertrain, this model directly disrupted the long-established 250cc market landscape, making Kymco's Downtown 250 an instant target for competition from other models.
I've always been curious about why Zongshen named the Cyclone series this way. Actually, 'Cyclone' is a translation from the English word meaning whirlwind or tornado, representing speed and passion. When Zongshen aimed to establish its brand internationally, they chose this cool name to reflect the characteristics of sport motorcycles—powerful performance and stylish design. They placed 'Sai' (race) at the beginning to symbolize competitive spirit; 'Ke' (tech) represents a sense of technology; and 'Long' (dragon) was added to incorporate Chinese elements, making it both locally distinctive and trendy. This name was introduced in the mid-2000s and attracted many young riders. When I test-rode one, it felt as thrilling as riding a storm. Of course, names must evolve with the times, and now in the era of electric vehicles, it also conveys a sense of innovation.
