Why Does the Car Fuel Tank Generate Gas?
1 Answers
Fuel tanks generate gas because gasoline is a highly volatile fuel. When agitated inside the car's fuel tank, it accelerates evaporation, producing a large amount of fuel vapor. At this point, opening the fuel tank cap may result in a jetting phenomenon, which is normal and nothing to worry about. For more details, please see below: 1. Occurrence Time: The phenomenon of gas spraying out when opening the fuel tank cap mostly happens in summer. The gas you feel is actually gasoline in its gaseous state. 2. Cause: Gasoline is a rapidly evaporating liquid. When a liquid turns into a gas, its volume increases. Additionally, due to heating, such as during hot summer weather, the fuel pump inside the tank also generates heat. Both gas and liquid expand when heated, and the gaseous gasoline sealed inside the tank creates pressure that exceeds the external atmospheric pressure. Once the fuel tank is opened, creating a pressure difference between the inside of the tank and the atmospheric environment, the high-pressure gaseous gasoline inside the tank is expelled.
