Why Does Audi Have Strong Interior Odors?
1 Answers
This issue is not unique to Audi; it is prevalent across Volkswagen models, including Skoda Octavia, Audi, FAW-Volkswagen, and SAIC Volkswagen. After investigation, it has been determined that the problem stems from substandard sound insulation materials in the dashboard. For such a major brand to encounter such quality issues, the manufacturer bears undeniable responsibility. Generally, interior odors in vehicles can be attributed to the following causes: 1. Plastic and Rubber Materials: Automotive interiors extensively use plastic and rubber materials. The organic solvents and additives in these materials gradually release into the cabin environment during vehicle use. This is one of the primary sources of interior odors, especially in new cars. 2. Cabin Air Filter: Many car owners report an unpleasant musty smell when the air conditioning is turned on, which typically subsides after a while. This odor is actually a sign that the cabin air filter needs replacement. Mold caused by bacterial decomposition in the air conditioning system can be alleviated by replacing the filter. 3. Evaporator Core: If the odor persists after replacing the cabin air filter, the issue likely lies with the evaporator core. Mold growth inside the evaporator core cannot be resolved by simply changing the filter. In such cases, cleaning the evaporator core and air conditioning ducts is necessary.
