These days, it's Geely, a huge Chinese auto company that owns Volvo and Mercedes-Benz shares. They bought Lotus a few years back. You have to look at it in two parts: who makes it now and who created it. Currently, the manufacturing and global strategy are driven by Geely. This is great for funding new tech like the all-electric Evija hypercar. But the original DNA, the reason people are passionate about Lotus, comes from Colin Chapman. His engineering philosophy focused on making the car lighter, not more powerful, to achieve brilliant handling. That spirit is what defines a true Lotus.
