Which Gear to Use for Climbing Hills?

Climbing gears vary by vehicle type: 1. Manual transmission cars use 2nd or 3rd gear; 2. Automatic transmission cars use S gear, L gear or D gear. The method to prevent rolling back during hill starts is: 1. Shift to neutral, firmly engage the handbrake to prevent rolling; 2. Depress the clutch fully with left foot, shift to 1st gear while holding the handbrake with right hand; 3. Gradually release clutch to semi-engaged position until vehicle vibrates and shows forward tendency - maintain this position (avoid further clutch release to prevent stalling), slowly press accelerator with right foot. When vehicle moves forward, fully release handbrake; 4. Continue accelerating to climb, avoiding prolonged semi-engaged acceleration during startup. Once propelled by throttle, the vehicle won't roll back - release clutch pedal and accelerate to complete startup.
