The later F10 generation post-2010 showed some improvement, but still had potential issues. The current new G30 generation, manufactured after 2017 with B48 or B58 engines, has optimized piston rings and cylinder sealing in its design. My 2019 530i rarely requires topping up oil, only needing checks every 10,000 kilometers on average, which is quite worry-free. BMW has updated its technology to address the oil consumption problem, so if the budget allows, going for a post-2017 G30 model is the safest bet. Just use genuine oil during maintenance to avoid recurring issues.
