Where is the rearview mirror heating switch on the Lavida?

The rearview mirror heating switch for the Volkswagen Lavida is located on the inner side of the driver's door. Below the rearview mirror adjustment switch, there is a rearview mirror heating icon. Turning this button to the heating icon will activate the rearview mirror heating function. This feature is particularly useful during rainy or snowy weather. When activated, the heater behind the mirror quickly warms the surface, gradually removing rainwater or fog, eliminating the need for frequent manual wiping by the driver and thus reducing driving hazards. How to use the rearview mirror heating function: The rearview mirror heating function can generally be activated in two ways. One is combined with the electric rearview mirror adjustment button—simply rotate the knob to turn it on. The other is located on the air conditioning control panel—pressing the heating button will activate it. There’s no need to manually adjust the angle, as the driver’s side has an adjustment button. Principle of the rearview mirror heating function: After pressing the button, the electric heater behind the rearview mirror glass rapidly heats up to a fixed temperature within a few minutes, typically between 35-60 degrees Celsius. Heat is then distributed across the left and right rearview mirrors. Simultaneously, as the temperature rises and evaporation occurs, water droplets on the mirror surface gradually shrink, and fog slowly dissipates, effectively defogging and defrosting the mirror. However, if the rainfall is particularly heavy, the effect may diminish and become less noticeable. Precautions for using the rearview mirror heating function: The principle of rearview mirror heating involves electric heating wires embedded in the mirror, which consume a significant amount of power. When using this function, ensure the car is in an active running state. Avoid activating the rearview mirror heating while the vehicle is stationary to prevent draining the car battery, which could hinder the car’s ability to start. Other methods for defogging rearview mirrors include: Opening windows for air circulation: Slightly opening both side windows allows air to flow between the inside and outside of the car, reducing the temperature difference and gradually eliminating fog. Adjusting the car’s air conditioning to the appropriate setting can also help by blowing warm air to remove fog.
Having driven the Lavida for several years, I'm quite familiar with the rearview mirror heating function. The switch is located right at the rear window defroster button – they share the same control. Usually on the air conditioning panel, there's a square button with a wavy line icon. When driving in rain, just press it and both mirrors start heating up quickly, evaporating raindrops and condensation for instant clear vision. This feature is extremely practical, especially on highways or during damp weather, preventing blind spot accidents. I often check if it's working properly – occasionally the button might stick, but a simple cleaning fixes it. The thoughtful design eliminates the hassle of separate operations; you can always find it by exploring the control area after starting the car. By the way, it works better with windows closed, though maintaining proper air circulation inside is also important.
