The air conditioning switch has a SYNC button which is the dual-zone temperature synchronization control. Function: The SYNC button is the dual-zone temperature synchronization control. After deactivating it, you can set different temperatures for the left and right zones. Precautions: The air conditioning system needs regular cleaning. During use, the air conditioner tends to accumulate dust, forming dirt that can lead to mold growth over time. Avoid setting the temperature too low. Prolonged exposure to low temperatures can cause various discomforts as the body's endocrine system struggles to adapt quickly. Normally, the cabin temperature should be maintained at around 26~27 degrees Celsius. Never leave the air conditioning running while parked and resting. When the car engine is running, incomplete combustion of gasoline in the cylinders can produce high concentrations of carbon monoxide, leading to poisoning or even death.

I recently drove the new BMW 5 Series and figured out the air conditioning sync function quite easily. On the AC control panel, there's a round button with arrows on both sides labeled 'DUAL'. Press it once, and when the indicator light turns off, it means the left and right temperatures are synchronized. To adjust the temperature, just turn the driver's side knob, and the passenger side temperature will automatically follow. If you want to set temperatures separately, press the 'DUAL' button again to light up the indicator. Some newer models also have this sync switch in the AC menu on the central control screen. However, note that when the car starts, the AC defaults to dual-zone mode, so you need to press the button manually to sync temperatures. BMW designed this button right next to the fan speed knob, making it very convenient to operate while driving.

As someone who frequently drives different car models, I've found that BMW's air conditioning synchronization operation is actually quite consistent. In most models, you can find the button with two arrows on the center console's air conditioning panel, which may be labeled DUAL or SYNC. After pressing it, the instrument cluster will display a temperature synchronization indicator. At this point, turning the driver's side temperature knob will adjust both sides simultaneously. Older BMW models may require entering the iDrive menu to set synchronization, but newer ones generally have a physical button. Interestingly, even when synchronization is enabled, the air conditioning airflow will still automatically adjust according to the zones. To deactivate synchronization, simply press the DUAL button until its light turns on. By the way, in some models, the synchronization button is located below the temperature display rather than next to the knob.

Having driven the BMW X3 for two years, synchronizing the AC is just a button press away. That dual-arrow icon button labeled SYNC in the center console's climate control area—when pressed to turn off its light, it syncs both sides. At this point, adjusting the driver's side temperature knob automatically mirrors the change on the passenger side. To adjust temperatures separately, simply press it again to light up the button. If you can't find it, check the toggle switch in the AC interface on the center display. Remember, this button is conveniently located next to the fan speed adjustment. The system defaults to dual-zone mode upon starting the car, so don't forget to manually sync it.
