Where is the A4's cabin air filter located?

The A4 has two cabin air filters: one is the intake filter, located at the lower left of the engine compartment's cover plate; the other is the blower filter, positioned above the footwell on the passenger side. To replace the intake filter, first remove the leftmost foam piece, then lift the sealing strip to access the filter housed in a rectangular frame. Unclip the frame's fasteners to remove the entire assembly, install the new filter, clean the air intake duct, and reassemble in reverse order. The new A4 comes in two variants: Sport and Elegance. The Sport variant measures 4858mm in length, 1653mm in width, and 1439mm in height; the Elegance variant is 4851mm long, 1847mm wide, and 1439mm tall.
In my Audi A4, the cabin air filter is hidden behind the glove compartment on the passenger side. To locate it, first fully open the glove box. At the bottom, there are several plastic clips or small bolts—just gently pry or loosen them to remove the entire glove box. Once removed, you’ll see a rectangular housing, which is the filter compartment. When pulling out the old filter, pay attention to the arrow direction on it; install the new filter with the arrow pointing toward the front of the car to ensure proper airflow. I replace mine every 20,000 kilometers—it’s especially effective against dust and pollen in Beijing’s frequent hazy weather. The DIY process is straightforward; a basic screwdriver is all you need, saving money and hassle. For first-timers, I’d recommend watching a video tutorial beforehand—safety first. After replacement, the air vents feel fresher, and interior odors are significantly reduced.
