You can no longer buy a new Suzuki car from a dealership in the United States. Suzuki Automobile exited the U.S. market in 2012 after years of low sales, ceasing all new car sales and closing its dealer network. Your primary options today are purchasing a used Suzuki model from a pre-owned dealership or a private seller, or considering a similar vehicle from brands that currently compete in the compact and small SUV segments Suzuki once occupied.

While you won't find a brand-new Suzuki on a lot, models like the SX4 and Grand Vitara were fairly popular and can still be found on the used market. Websites like AutoTrader, Cars.com, and CarGurus are excellent resources for finding these used vehicles. When evaluating a used Suzuki, pay close attention to its maintenance history. Parts and service are still available through independent mechanics and parts suppliers, but it's not as straightforward as owning a mainstream brand.

If you were drawn to Suzuki for its affordability and practicality, you might want to look at current offerings from brands like Kia, Hyundai, Honda, and Toyota. Their subcompact and compact SUVs, such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross, offer similar size and functionality with modern features and full manufacturer support.

Suzuki pulled out of America over a decade ago, so new ones are gone. Your best bet is the used market. I found my old SX4 on Craigslist a few years back, and it's been a solid little car. Just be sure to get any used Suzuki checked out by a mechanic you trust before buying, since there's no dealer to fall back on for warranty work.

As an enthusiast who followed their exit, Suzuki left the U.S. in 2012 due to financial reasons and a market shift towards larger vehicles. The brand continues to thrive in other global markets like India and Japan. If you're set on a modern Suzuki experience, you'd have to look internationally, but importing a car not made for the U.S. market involves significant regulatory hurdles and costs, making it impractical for most people.

Forget new—they haven't sold them here in years. But if you really want that Suzuki feel, check out the used Grand Vitara SUVs. They're surprisingly capable off-road for their size and are known for being simple and reliable. You'll find plenty online. Just know that while parts aren't impossible to find, it's not as easy as walking into a Toyota dealer.

My neighbor had this same question last month. He loved his old Suzuki and wanted another new one. I had to break the news to him that they're just not available anymore. We spent an afternoon online comparing used models to newer cars like the Hyundai Kona. He ended up going with the Kona for the peace of mind that comes with a full warranty and local dealer support, which is something important to consider.
