BMW requires 97-octane gasoline because its engine configuration is high-performance and needs higher-purity gasoline to unleash its full power. Engine Requirements: BMW engines require 97-octane gasoline to prevent knocking. Using 93-octane gasoline may cause premature aging of the car's three-way catalytic converter and varying degrees of damage to the sensors. 97-Octane Gasoline: 97-octane gasoline is composed of 97% isooctane and 3% n-heptane, making it a high-purity fuel. The density of 97-octane gasoline is 0.737g/ml, with approximately 0.678 liters per kilogram.

BMW owners should pay special attention to fuel selection. I believe 95-octane gasoline is the safest choice. German engineers designed these vehicles with high-octane fuel in mind, featuring high compression ratios that can lead to engine knocking with lower-grade fuel. Last week, my neighbor tried saving money by using 92-octane fuel, which triggered the engine warning light and cost nearly 2,000 yuan to clean carbon deposits. The manual clearly recommends 95-octane or higher, with some M series models even requiring 98-octane. Fuel quality varies significantly among Chinese gas stations, with Sinopec and Shell's 95-octane being relatively reliable. Long-term use of low-octane fuel causes severe carbon buildup, reducing performance and potentially clogging fuel injectors. While 95-octane is slightly more expensive, the savings on repair costs make it worthwhile.

Having driven BMWs for twelve years, I can tell you that refueling is no trivial matter. The older 3 Series models run fine on 95 octane, but the newer B-series engines require 98 octane to unleash their full potential. There's usually a recommended fuel grade label on the inside of the fuel filler flap – yellow background with black text, very noticeable. Once during a business trip to a remote gas station when 95 octane was sold out, I temporarily used 92 octane and immediately noticed the throttle response became sluggish. I had the fuel system cleaned right after returning. Now I exclusively refuel at BP stations because their Ultimate gasoline has higher detergent content. Never mix different fuel grades to save trouble – it'll shorten your fuel filter replacement interval. Remember, premium gasoline is like skincare for your engine.

The fuel grade for BMW actually depends on the engine model. Older turbo engines like the N20 are fine with 95 octane, but newer models like the B48TU recommend using 98 octane. The knock sensor will automatically adjust the ignition timing based on fuel quality, but long-term use of lower-grade fuel can cause carbon buildup on the piston tops. A friend of mine used only 92 octane for three years, and when the engine was opened up, it was full of black carbon deposits. The BMW maintenance manual clearly states: In the Chinese market, at least 95 RON standard fuel must be used. Pay special attention to ethanol-blended fuel issues—E10 ethanol fuel in northern regions requires a correspondingly higher octane rating. When driving abroad, be extra cautious. The U.S. uses a different octane rating system, where 87 octane is equivalent to China's 92 octane—don’t get it wrong.

Last week, I attended a BMW technical training at the 4S dealership where the instructor emphasized fuel selection. Using low-octane fuel in direct injection engines can easily lead to pre-ignition, damaging the piston rings. The worst case in the maintenance records was an X5 that had been using 92-octane fuel long-term, requiring a major engine overhaul at just 50,000 kilometers. It is recommended to prioritize gasoline from TOP TIER certified stations, as these fuels contain sufficient detergents. In emergencies where only 92-octane is available, keep the RPM below 3,000 and switch back to higher-octane fuel as soon as possible. The new 5 Series owner’s manual states that 91-octane fuel is allowed temporarily but will result in a 7% power loss. When refueling, also check the fuel cap seal, as aging can lead to fuel vapor evaporation.

Remember three key points when refueling your BMW: octane rating, fuel quality, and habits. Always start with 95 octane, and for new models equipped with GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter), 98 octane is recommended. Choose reputable, large-brand gas stations, as small, independent ones might mix in substandard fuel components. I have a habit of adding a bottle of the manufacturer's fuel additive before each refuel to reduce intake valve carbon buildup. Avoid keeping the fuel tank half-full for extended periods, as the volatile components in gasoline can degrade. Pay special attention in winter: -35 diesel is for diesel models, don't mistakenly use it in gasoline cars. Recently, while helping a friend inspect a used 7 Series, the fuel system was shockingly dirty—clearly, the previous owner didn't fuel properly. Regularly checking fuel adaptation values with a diagnostic tool can help assess fuel quality.

What is the reason for the car not starting after being pushed out of water?

Possible causes include distributor and spark plug malfunctions. Below are the relevant explanations: Distributor: There may be moisture in the distributor, causing poor sparking. Wipe the distributor rotor and also check the oil dipstick to see if water has entered the oil. If water has mixed with the oil, the oil will appear milky white. Spark Plug: Remove the spark plugs and attempt to start the engine to expel water from the cylinders and exhaust pipe. After drying the spark plugs, reinstall them and try starting the car again. If the car cannot be turned over after removing the spark plugs, do not attempt to start it further, as this indicates that the connecting rod, valves, and pistons may already be damaged. Continuing to start the car could cause more severe damage.

Can a battery with 10v voltage be repaired?

A battery with 10v voltage can be repaired. The problematic cell can be extracted and replaced, then sealed with adhesive, the terminals welded, electrolyte added, and finally charged. Here are the relevant details: Reasons for battery cell failure: Poor battery quality; incorrect usage leading to internal short circuits; frequent use of the battery; severe impacts or drops. Battery lifespan: Generally, a battery lasts 3-5 years, with higher-quality ones lasting 7-8 years. If the battery is nearing the end of its life, it is recommended to replace it directly. When the car is turned off, avoid prolonged use of electronic devices, air conditioning, or headlights, as this can shorten the battery's lifespan. If the car needs to be parked for an extended period, it is best to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent discharge. Proper usage can effectively extend the battery's lifespan.

How to switch between air conditioning and heating in Nissan Tiida?

Nissan Tiida's air conditioning and heating can be directly switched via buttons. Simply increase the temperature to activate heating, and turn off the AC button to save energy. The compressor doesn't need to engage during heating operation, as warmth is directly supplied by the coolant system and windshield heating wires. For automatic climate control, press the AUTO button - the system will automatically maintain cabin temperature stability without manual adjustment, making decisions based on sensor signals. Taking the Tiida 2021 1.6L Manual Ledong Edition as an example, its body dimensions are 4393mm (length) × 1766mm (width) × 1539mm (height) with a 2700mm wheelbase.
