Geely Vision is equipped with a 1.5L inline 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission, 4-speed automatic manual transmission, or CVT continuously variable transmission. Transmission: A device that changes speed ratio and direction of motion, used in automobiles, tractors, ships, machine tools, and various machines to alter torque, speed, and motion direction transmitted from the driving shaft to the driven shaft under different working conditions. Gear transmission systems generally consist of a housing and several gear pairs. Geely Vision Powertrain: The Geely Vision is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power output of 109 horsepower and peak torque of 142Nm. It utilizes multi-point fuel injection technology, reaching maximum power at 6000 rpm and peak torque at 4400 rpm.

Last month, I happened to accompany a friend to test drive the Geely Vision. This car offers two transmission options. The manual version comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, which provides direct and flexible operation, making it suitable for users who pursue driving pleasure and fuel economy. The automatic model is equipped with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), delivering a smooth driving experience like gliding on ice, especially comfortable in stop-and-go city traffic. The older automatic models used a 4AT transmission, but the newer versions have all been upgraded to CVT, significantly improving the belt transmission efficiency. Although it may not be as intelligent as the transmissions in luxury cars, it’s quite commendable for its price range. I recommend testing both versions to feel the shifting response during the test drive.

My uncle's auto repair shop often receives Geely Vision owners. The manual transmission models mostly use a 5MT gearbox, which has a simple and durable structure. Replacing a clutch kit only costs a few hundred yuan. The automatic transmission models now uniformly use CVT transmissions, with a steel belt drive design that is particularly suitable for daily commuting. I remember the 2017 automatic models still used a 4AT transmission, but later the manufacturer upgraded the entire lineup to CVT. The most noticeable change was a reduction in fuel consumption by about 0.8 liters per 100 kilometers. If the budget allows, I recommend choosing the automatic transmission, especially if there are female drivers in the family. The linear acceleration feel of the CVT makes it easy to handle. Just remember to change the transmission fluid every 60,000 kilometers during maintenance.

As a veteran driver who has owned three domestic cars, the CVT transmission in the Vision left a deep impression on me. Compared to some dual-clutch models in the same price range, this transmission shows no jerking at all during traffic jams. Although the manual version has slightly longer gear shifts, the clear gear positions make it suitable for beginners to practice. You should know that in the early years, automatic transmissions used 4AT gearboxes, but now with the comprehensive upgrade to CVT, the acceleration smoothness has improved significantly. I commute 40 kilometers daily, and the displayed fuel consumption is only 6.9L. This powertrain is indeed well-tuned. With regular maintenance, it can basically run for ten years without major issues.
