It separates water from fuel before the fuel enters the injection pump by utilizing the gravity difference between fuel and water. When the warning light illuminates, you can unscrew the drain valve at the bottom of the water-fuel separator's reservoir. Once the liquid level drops below the sensor, the indicator light will turn off.
