Press and release to open the sunroof. The sunroof will stop when it approaches the fully open position. Press and release the control button again to fully open the sunroof. Press and release to close the sunroof shade. The sunroof shade will stop when it is halfway closed. To fully close the sunroof shade, press the control button again. Press and release to close a tilted or open sunroof. If the anti-pinch sunroof or sunroof shade encounters an obstacle while closing, it will retract a certain distance and stop automatically. In case of anti-pinch activation, press and hold the sunroof close control button for 2 seconds to deactivate this function.
The last time I encountered a situation where the sunroof wouldn't close was while driving on the highway, with raindrops pouring directly into the car. I quickly pulled over to the emergency lane, used the car's sunshade to temporarily cover the opening, and then turned off and restarted the vehicle. After holding down the close button for more than twenty seconds, I heard a click sound, indicating a successful reset. During a later maintenance visit, the mechanic explained that a small branch stuck in the track was the main cause and recommended that I clean the dust from the sunroof rails every quarter, especially for cars parked under trees where leaves can easily fall in. If the sunroof suddenly fails to close during rain, avoid forcing the switch as it can easily burn out the motor. Instead, immediately seal the sunroof gap with plastic sheeting before heading to the repair shop.
Having repaired many similar faults, the common causes for the Roewe RX3 sunroof failing to close are usually four issues: debris stuck in the sliding rails, the need for reset initialization, a blown fuse, or poor switch contact. First, remove any sand or leaves stuck in the rail gaps, then use a cotton swab dipped in lubricant to clean the rails. Next, power on the vehicle without starting the engine, and hold the close button for 15 seconds to complete the reset. If this doesn’t work, check the fuse box located near the driver’s left foot. Refer to the manual to find the sunroof’s corresponding fuse and see if the metal wire is melted. Both the reset and fuse replacement are free and can be done yourself. If the problem persists, inspect the switch contacts for oxidation—you may need to disassemble the center console and replace the module.
