What kind of engine oil should be used for Baojun 560?

Baojun 560's original engine oil is SM grade or above, with a viscosity rating of 5W-30. If you want to change the oil during later maintenance, you can choose international brands such as Shell, Mobil, or Castrol. The viscosity of engine oil changes with temperature, so special attention should be paid to its performance under both low and high temperatures. For example, in 5W-30, the first number indicates low-temperature fluidity. 5W means it can withstand temperatures as low as -30°C. The smaller this number, the better the low-temperature fluidity, making cold starts smoother. The second number represents the kinematic viscosity of the oil at 100°C. A higher value means the oil can maintain its viscosity better at high temperatures, which can also be understood as better lubrication performance under high-temperature conditions. The method for changing the engine oil in Baojun 560 is as follows: Wait for the engine temperature to drop, allowing the oil to flow back into the oil pan. Use a wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and place an oil pan underneath to catch the old oil until no more oil flows out. Start the engine and let it run for 30 seconds to allow the oil in the main oil passage to drain out. Use a special wrench to remove the oil filter. Apply oil to the oil seal of the new oil filter and tighten it clockwise by hand. Add the new oil through the engine valve cover's oil filler port, usually filling about three-quarters of the oil container. Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes, checking for any leaks around the oil drain plug and oil filter. If leaks are found, perform necessary repairs. After stopping the engine, pull out the oil dipstick to check if the oil level is within the standard range.
I've been driving my Baojun 560 for over a year now, and my top choice for engine oil is the 5W-30 synthetic grade, which is exactly what the factory manual recommends. It protects the engine from wear during cold starts and high-temperature operation. I used to go for cheaper 10W-40 mineral oil, but the engine would rattle during cold starts, and fuel consumption increased slightly. After switching to a branded synthetic oil, the engine became much quieter. Now, I change the oil every 5,000 kilometers, making sure to check the dipstick to avoid overfilling or underfilling, which could lead to clogging or insufficient lubrication. Proper maintenance makes the car run smoother and saves on repair costs.
