What is the installation method for the timing belt of the Lova 1.4 engine?

Do not move the crankshaft at the timing mark, install the small belt, tighten the belt slightly. The left balance shaft should be at the timing mark. Use a screwdriver to push the eccentric wheel upward and tighten the eccentric wheel screw. Align the timing marks, starting from the crankshaft, press the belt tightly towards the right crankshaft and the right balance shaft timing marks. Install the belt on the right camshaft and press the left camshaft to the timing mark. After installing the belt, release the hydraulic tensioner pull ring, and the belt will automatically adjust to the correct tension. Check if all timing marks are aligned. The small belt on the left should be synchronized with the crankshaft, just align the timing marks.
Last time I successfully installed the timing belt on my Lova 1.4 by myself, which was quite an accomplishment. Prepare a set of wrenches and a special tensioner tool, first remove the engine cover and coolant pipes to make space. Pay attention to alignment marks: the notch on the crankshaft should align with the indicator line on the cylinder block, and the two dots on the camshaft should be horizontally aligned with the reference mark. Start installing the belt from the crankshaft gear, wind it clockwise around the water pump pulley and camshaft gear, and finally hook it onto the tensioner pulley. Adjusting the tension is crucial; use the tensioner tool to set it to moderately tight—too loose and it will skip teeth causing engine vibration, too tight and the belt may crack. After installation, manually turn the crankshaft two full turns to check if the marks realign. If everything is fine, reattach the accessories and start the test. I recommend using OEM belts to avoid quality issues affecting lifespan. Before starting, watching YouTube tutorials can give more confidence. Beginners shouldn’t rush; taking it slow can save hundreds in repair costs.
