With the progress of electronic technology and the emergence of new sensors and electronic display components, automotive electronic dashboards have been rapidly adopted. Currently, the main types of electronic dashboard display devices used in cars include the following: light-emitting diodes (LEDs), vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs), and liquid crystal displays (LCDs). II. Types of Electronic Dashboards: 1. Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs): LEDs were first used in digital watches in the late 1960s and gradually became widely known. They feature a simple structure, small size, and long service life, gradually replacing the incandescent bulbs used in traditional dashboards. However, LEDs perform well in dim environments but are hard to recognize under direct sunlight. LEDs are only suitable for displaying text information and bar graphics. Vacuum fluorescent displays consist of many electrodes encapsulated in a vacuum glass container, where high-speed electron streams strike fluorescent materials to emit light. 2. Vacuum Fluorescent Displays (VFDs): VFDs have a broader color gamut than LEDs, requiring only a relatively low operating voltage for color display and easy connection to control circuits, making them suitable for displaying various texts and images. They offer high reliability, easy readability, and a wide range of color options but are prone to shattering under vibration.
