What does S+ mean on a Mercedes-Benz?

Mercedes S+ mode refers to the Sport+ extreme sports mode. In this mode, gear shifting is faster, and you can feel jerking at low speeds, with start-stop function turned off. The various driving modes of Mercedes-Benz are manually switched by the owner and executed by the onboard computer. As long as it is within a safe driving speed, the owner can switch at any time. Mercedes-Benz has five driving modes: 1. E mode: also known as ECO, the economic mode. 2. C mode: also known as Comfort, the comfort mode. 3. S mode: also known as Sport, the sports mode. 4. S+ mode: also known as Sport+, the extreme sports mode. 5. I mode: also known as individual, the personalized mode.
When my Mercedes displays S+, it indicates that the Sport+ mode is activated. The entire car feels like it's on adrenaline, with exceptionally quick acceleration response, aggressive starts, soaring RPMs, and an exhilarating surge when overtaking by just stepping on the gas. However, for daily commuting, I mainly use Comfort mode, which offers smoother and more fuel-efficient driving. The Sport+ mode consumes significantly more fuel—about 1-2 liters extra for half an hour of driving—so I only switch to it on open roads or occasionally when in a hurry. Remember not to overuse it for extended periods, as it increases engine strain and may affect longevity. Regular maintenance and checks on the drivetrain are recommended to ensure everything stays in optimal condition.
