What does high and low speed mean for motorcycles?

Motorcycle high and low speed refers to high and low gears, where the high gear is the normal driving gear, and the low gear is for very slow speeds. Motorcycle gear types: There are mainly two types: sequential shifting and non-sequential shifting (international shifting). Sequential shifting cycles through 0-1-2-3-4-5-0, while international shifting follows 1-0-2-3-4-5 without cycling, with neutral gear located between 1st and 2nd gear. For motorcycles with a clutch, after starting the engine, engage first gear, slowly release the clutch lever, and gently apply throttle simultaneously. Motorcycle speed measurement method: It primarily relies on a component called the "speedometer drive gear," located at the front wheel axle. The teeth of this gear drive the speedometer cable to rotate, transmitting power to the instrument panel. The gears inside the instrument panel, after speed conversion, finally drive the speedometer needle to indicate the corresponding speed. Each motorcycle model is designed with different speedometer gear sets based on its front wheel size.
