What does ABS on a car mean?

ABS on a car stands for Anti-lock Braking System. Its function is to automatically control the braking force during vehicle braking, preventing the wheels from locking up and maintaining a state of rolling and sliding (with a slip ratio of around 20%), ensuring maximum traction between the wheels and the road surface. Reasons for the ABS light to illuminate include: 1. Faulty wheel speed sensor; 2. ABS circuit malfunction; 3. ABS pump or pressure control solenoid valve failure; 4. ABS computer malfunction. Solutions are: 1. Normally, the light turns on when the ignition is switched on or the engine is started, as the system enters a self-test procedure. The light will turn off after the test is completed; 2. Have a professional use a diagnostic tool to inspect and determine whether the issue lies with the tone ring, sensor, wiring, etc.
