2021 GAC Toyota Wildlander has been launched. As a facelift model, it mainly features adjustments and improvements in interior and configurations. Among them, the 2.0L Luxury Edition, Luxury AWD Edition, 2.5L Hybrid Luxury Edition, and Hybrid Luxury AWD Edition all saw a price increase of 1,000 yuan, while prices for other variants remain unchanged. In terms of features, new additions include leather steering wheel, leather gear shift knob, soft interior panel trim, and chrome air vent accents. The front fascia and side profile maintain the design language of the previous generation, retaining high recognizability. The Wildlander can be considered a successful China-specific model, maintaining strong sales performance since its launch over a year ago.

Last year, I bought a 2021 Highlander and noticed several design optimizations that make the overall appearance more youthful and dynamic. For example, the front fascia features a new honeycomb grille paired with sharp LED headlights, creating more three-dimensional lines compared to the boxier look of the older model. The color options have also been updated with several new metallic paint choices that look even more eye-catching in sunlight. The wheels have been upgraded to sporty 19-inch rims with a new design, significantly enhancing the visual appeal when driving. Additionally, the bumper design is now sleeker and more streamlined, with fewer decorative elements, giving it a more refined look. These changes have made the car stand out more on the road, and my friends all agree that its aesthetics have improved dramatically. As a car enthusiast, these subtle updates really appeal to me, and it feels like Toyota put a lot of effort into catering to younger audiences this time.

I usually drive the Wildlander for commuting and taking the kids around. The 2021 model has some solid upgrades in the interior. The most noticeable change is the new 10.1-inch touchscreen on the dashboard—much cleaner interface, faster touch response, and even smoother CarPlay connectivity. The seats are now upholstered in softer leather with better support, making long drives less tiring, and it’s harder for the kids to dirty them while playing in the back. There are also a few extra storage compartments for phones and keys, making them easier to access, plus additional USB ports so no one has to fight over charging cables. Noise insulation has improved noticeably, reducing wind noise on the highway and making conversations clearer for the family. The optimized AC system heats and cools faster, and combined with the built-in air purifier, the cabin feels much fresher. These thoughtful upgrades make daily driving more convenient and effortless.

From a technical perspective, the 2021 Wildlander has undergone significant upgrades in safety features. Equipped with Toyota's latest Safety Sense system TSS 2.0, its automatic braking is more responsive, and the lane departure warning reacts much faster. The cruise control automatically adjusts speed, making long-distance driving much easier. The infotainment system's connectivity has been enhanced, supporting OTA updates with real-time navigation data refreshes and lower error rates. The body structure has been fine-tuned, improving passive safety test scores. Newly added blind-spot monitoring and rear traffic alert systems make reversing and parking much safer. The optimized battery management system slightly increases the range of hybrid models, and the instrument panel displays more comprehensive information.

What is the problem with the car lights flashing?

The reasons for car lights flashing are: 1. Poor circuit contact; 2. Stabilizer failure; 3. Problems with the bulb or high-voltage pack. The maintenance methods for car headlights are: 1. Regularly check the sealing of the headlights. If the sealing ring between the diffuser lens and the reflector is damaged, replace it promptly; 2. Clean the reflector regularly. If it turns black and the light intensity decreases, replace it; 3. Regularly clean dust and stains from the bulb. The standards for adjusting car headlights are: 1. Drive the car onto a flat and open road; 2. Turn on the car headlights and adjust the low-beam light spot to about 30m from the car, ensuring the two light spots overlap; 3. Adjust the high-beam light spot to be parallel to the ground.

How Long Does It Take to Change the Engine Oil for a Car?

Changing the engine oil for a car takes about 10 minutes. The method for changing the engine oil is as follows: 1. Lift the car, remove the protective plate, and place a container with a capacity of about 10 liters below the oil drain screw; 2. Unscrew the oil drain screw, use an air gun to blow for two minutes at the oil filler port, tighten the oil drain screw after draining, and wipe it with a tissue to check for oil leaks; 3. Reinstall the protective plate, lower the car, and use a funnel to add oil through the oil filler port. The functions of engine oil include: lubrication, auxiliary cooling, cleaning, sealing and leak prevention, rust and corrosion prevention, shock absorption, and wear resistance. Engine oil is categorized into mineral oil, semi-synthetic oil, and full synthetic oil.

What are the reasons for the discrepancy between the odometer reading and the actual mileage?

The reasons for the discrepancy between the odometer reading and the actual mileage include a faulty odometer sensor, issues with the wiring between the sensor and the dashboard, or a malfunctioning dashboard pointer. Generally, the latter has a very low probability of occurring and can usually be ruled out. It is recommended that the driver visit a repair shop to have the odometer sensor inspected and replaced if necessary. Determining whether the issue is with the sensor or the dashboard: Disconnect the sensor connector, turn on the ignition, and locate the 2nd electrode connected to the brown wire with a red stripe in the connector. Use a homemade wire with a plug to extend it and lightly brush against a grounded part of the vehicle body to input a pulse signal to the dashboard. If the speedometer needle moves, it indicates that the dashboard is functioning properly. The fault lies with the sensor's reed switch or magnetic ring. If the speedometer needle does not move, it suggests an issue with the dashboard or the connecting wiring. Determining whether the issue is with the dashboard or the wiring: Remove the dashboard without disconnecting the plug, and use a multimeter to measure the three electrodes on the dashboard. Turn on the ignition, and check that the voltage from fuse No. 26 to the power supply line of the speedometer should be 12V when measured against the ground. Use the multimeter's resistance mode to measure; the resistance of the pulse signal line from the dashboard to the sensor connector should be zero, and the resistance of the ground electrode to the ground should also be zero. If the actual measurements do not match these three values, any short circuits in the wiring should be addressed. If the wiring is confirmed to be fault-free, the issue lies with the speedometer, which should be repaired or replaced as needed.
