What Causes the One-Button Start Failure in BYD L3?

BYD L3 one-button start failure may be caused by the following reasons: Radio wave interference: Frequently placing the car key near electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, or TVs can cause interference with the low-intensity radio waves in the key. Alternatively, strong radio waves in the vicinity, such as those from TV towers, airports, or power plants, can also lead to the one-button start "failure" phenomenon. Dead key fob battery: If the remote control distance shortens or the key becomes less responsive, it is a sign that the key fob battery is running low. In a dead battery state, the one-button start function cannot work properly, and the battery should be replaced as soon as possible. Vehicle malfunction: In extreme cases such as fuel system issues, dead battery, or short circuits in electronic components, it is recommended to directly call the 4S store staff for assistance.
Last time, my BYD L3 also had an issue with the one-button start failing, which was extremely frustrating at the time. Later, I figured out the solution on my own and found that there are quite a few common causes: insufficient battery in the smart key is the primary issue—if the key light doesn’t turn on or is dim, replace the battery immediately, usually a CR2032 model; signal interference can’t be ignored either, such as placing a phone or metal objects near the key, which can block the signal—I once failed to start in a parking lot but succeeded immediately in an open area; low vehicle battery power can also affect the start response, with dim dashboard lights being a sign; additionally, the start button might malfunction or get stuck due to dust—a light tap sometimes works. System crashes are also a common bug, so it’s recommended to turn off all power and wait a few minutes before restarting. For prevention, I’ve made it a habit to replace the key battery annually and avoid starting the car in areas with many interference sources. Overall, these issues aren’t hard to troubleshoot—start with the simple fixes first to avoid delays in your trip.
