What Causes Spark Plug Leakage?
1 Answers
Spark plug leakage can be caused by the following reasons: 1. Excessive gap: The spark plug's gap is too large, leading to an increased breakdown voltage. 2. Ceramic insulator: Conductive dirt or oil leakage on the spark plug's ceramic insulator due to improper installation. The ceramic insulator around the spark plug's center electrode can accumulate excessive carbon deposits due to abnormal engine conditions or residues from metal additives like MMT in gasoline, causing flashover ignition on the ceramic tip. 3. Ignition coil (or cylinder wire) rubber sleeve: The rubber sleeve of the ignition coil (or cylinder wire) cracks internally due to high-temperature aging, leading to breakdown.
