South Korean motorcycle brand Hyosung launched its 2014 street bike GD250NEXIV in Japan. The new model abandons the previously used oil-cooled V-twin 250cc engine and adopts a newly developed 249cc water-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine. With specifications of 73mm bore and 59.6mm stroke, this engine is tuned for mid-to-high RPM performance. Under electronic fuel injection, it delivers maximum output of 28.4 HP at 8,500 RPM and peak torque of 26.1 N•m at 7,000 RPM. The steel truss and tubular frame benefits from the compact single-cylinder engine, combined with a short 1,346mm wheelbase and 790mm seat height, keeping the weight at just 143kg. The front 37mm inverted forks and right-side mounted rear monoshock both come from Japanese brand KYB, ensuring quality and handling. The braking system consists of a front 300mm single disc with opposed dual-piston calipers and a rear 230mm single disc with opposed single-piston caliper. It's paired with 130mm travel upright front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. The 16-inch front and 15-inch rear cast aluminum wheels are fitted with 120mm and 150mm wide tires respectively. Both front and rear feature disc brakes with standard CBS (Combined Braking System), meaning applying the rear brake automatically activates the front brake as well.
