What are the spark plug models for the X-Trail?

X-Trail spark plugs mainly include: standard spark plugs, extended tip spark plugs, electrode spark plugs, seat spark plugs, pole spark plugs, and surface gap spark plugs. What is a spark plug: A spark plug is a crucial component in the ignition system of a gasoline engine. It introduces high voltage into the combustion chamber and generates a spark by jumping the electrode gap, thereby igniting the combustible air-fuel mixture in the cylinder. How a spark plug works: Under high voltage, the air between the center electrode and the side electrode of the spark plug rapidly ionizes, forming positively charged ions and negatively charged free electrons. When the voltage between the electrodes reaches a certain level, the number of ions and electrons in the gas increases like an avalanche, causing the air to lose its insulating properties and forming a discharge channel between the gap, resulting in a "breakdown" phenomenon. At this point, the gas becomes a luminous body, known as a "spark." Along with its thermal expansion, a "crackling" sound is also produced. The temperature of this electric spark can reach as high as 2000-3000°C, which is sufficient to ignite the air-fuel mixture in the engine cylinder.
As a long-time X-Trail owner, I fully understand the importance of spark plug specifications. Different model years and engine types of X-Trail require different spark plugs. For example, the 2015 2.5L model commonly uses NGK ILZKAR7B-11S or DENSO IK20. The advantage of iridium material is its high-temperature resistance and long lifespan, typically requiring replacement every 80,000 kilometers. Using the wrong type can lead to ignition delay, increased fuel consumption, or engine vibration. I've changed them once myself, and by checking the manual beforehand to select the correct type, the ignition became much more responsive, and acceleration improved noticeably. During routine maintenance, it's advisable to have a professional check the spark plug gap, keeping it between 0.8-1.0mm. Although small, spark plugs are crucial for performance and environmental protection. After replacement, I clearly noticed cleaner exhaust emissions.
