The relevant provisions of the "Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law": Article 16: Motor vehicles shall undergo safety technical inspections according to the following periods from the date of registration: (1) Passenger vehicles for operational use shall be inspected once a year within 5 years; if exceeding 5 years, once every 6 months; (2) Trucks and large or medium-sized non-operational passenger vehicles shall be inspected once a year within 10 years; if exceeding 10 years, once every 6 months; (3) Small and mini non-operational passenger vehicles shall be inspected once every 2 years within 6 years; if exceeding 6 years, once a year; if exceeding 15 years, once every 6 months; (4) Motorcycles shall be inspected once every 2 years within 4 years; if exceeding 4 years, once a year; (5) Tractors and other motor vehicles shall be inspected once a year. Operational motor vehicles that pass the safety technical inspection within the prescribed inspection period shall repeat the safety technical inspection. (6) Vehicles exceeding the scrapping age cannot be transferred (sold or bought), but can continue to be used; when selling or buying, the vehicle owner can first apply for the vehicle's scrapping certificate (canceling the vehicle's file) at the vehicle management office, and then proceed with the transaction.
