Should You Use Recirculated or Fresh Air Mode in Car AC?

When turning on the AC for cooling or heating, first activate recirculation mode to rapidly lower or raise the cabin temperature. Once stabilized, appropriately switch to fresh air mode for ventilation. The key difference lies in air intake - recirculation draws air from inside the cabin. Choose between modes based on these scenarios: 1. After parking under scorching sun when the cabin feels like a sauna, initially use fresh air mode with windows/sunroof open to accelerate heat dissipation. After 3-5 minutes when temperature stabilizes, close windows, activate cooling and switch to recirculation. 2. In extreme winter cold, delay heating until engine reaches normal operating temperature, then use recirculated heat for faster warming. 3. During traffic jams, prefer recirculation to avoid circulating polluted external air.
